Small Molecule X-ray Crystallography
Overview
Lisbon Small Molecule
Crystallography Service is
an analytical service that involves a close collaboration between
three different institutions in the Lisbon area: the Instituto de
Tecnologia Química e Biológica (ITQB), the Instituto
Superior Técnico (IST: http://ist.utl.pt)
and the Instituto Tenologico Nuclear
(ITN: http://www.itn.pt). The head of
the service is Prof. Teresa Duarte and each
institute has a service responsible: Dr. Isabel Bento at ITQB, Prof.
Teresa Duarte at IST and Dr. Isabel Santos at ITN. The service also
has a technical adviser at ITQB, Dr Pedro Matias.
Main goal:
- Determination of the three-dimensional structure of small molecules
using single crystal X-ray diffraction
What we offer as a service:
|
- advice on growing good
diffracting crystals suitable for data
collection;
- evaluation of crystal quality and mounting of crystals, including air
sensitive samples; |
- determination of unit cell
parameters and space group;
- data collection at room temperature with CuKα or MoKα, radiation
using
Bruker-Nonius CAD-4 diffractometers with a scintillation detector; |

|
  |
- structure solution using the
powerful array of programs that are available;
- structure refinement;
- comprehensive analysis of the structural results;
- preparation of results and molecular illustrations, in colour or
black & white, for publication. |
