 Attendance

Please register till November 1st, sending group ID and name(s) by e-mail to itqb.safety@itqb.unl.pt

Participation in the workshop IS MANDATORY for all group leaders, post-docs and/or students working with any kind of radioactive sources, or planning to do so in the near future. For all other labs, attendance is free but it is highly advisable to send a representative, even if not involved in the subject.

 Abstract

Radioactivity is an invisible physical phenomenon than can be frightening to many people, not only because it can be the origin of severe health problems but also, in general, due to a low level of knowledge on the subject. Understanding the processes, acting in a safe way and using the right protections are the chief keywords when handling radioactive sources or equipments. ITQB Safety Committee is pleased to welcome Dr. Maria dos Anjos Neves from the Radiological Protection and Safety Department at Instituto Tecnológico Nuclear, who will broaden our overall knowledge about ionizing radiations and the uses of radioactivity in research, and will address our doubts and fears on the subject.
