Title: Chlamydia: a prokaryote playing by the eukaryotic rules

Speaker: Agathe Subtil

Affiliation: Institut Pasteur, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), France

Abstract:

Chlamydia are strict intracellular bacteria and grow in a vacuole. Our laboratory focuses on the study of the molecular mechanisms by which they escape host defense mechanisms, and use host resources for their own need. We will discuss how host-pathogen interactions has shaped not only the arsenal of effector proteins the bacteria use to manipulate the host, but also the lipid composition of these microbes.

Agathe Subtil is a team leader at the Institut Pasteur and has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant in July 2011 for the project NUChLEAR .
