The Program for Prevention and Control of Infections and Resistance to Antimicrobials (PPCIRA) is one of the Priority Health Programs and has the goal to reduce infections associated with health care and resistance to antimicrobials.

Paulo André Fernandes is the interim director of the PPCIRA. He is a specialist in Internal Medicine responsible for the Intensive Care Unit of the Centro Hospitalar Barreiro-Montijo.
