The Analytical Services Unit (ASU) is a joint department of IBET and ITQB and includes Analytical Laboratory, Microbiology Laboratory, Mass Spectrometry, Amino Acids Analysis, Protein Sequencing, and Elemental Analysis. ITQB hosts the largest Portuguese NMR facility - Centro de Ressonância Magnética António Xavier. CERMAX has several NMR spectrometers (300, 400, 500 and 800 MHz), including the highest field NMR spectrometer in Portugal. This equipment is part of the National NMR Facility.

![]() | The ITQB Lab Manager coordinates the purchase and maintenance of scientific equipment for the institute. Besides establishing efficient and professional purchase procedures, the Lab Manager supervises common scientific equipment and supports researchers who need to acquire laboratory instruments.
