Analytical Services Unit
Available to ITQB researchers and to the outside
Analytical Services Unit
| | The Analytical Services Unit (ASU) is a joint department of Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (IBET) and Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica (ITQB-UNL) under the executive management of IBET. Services include analytical development, validation and testing of chemicals and biologicals as well as studies on candidate pharmaceutical products according to OECD Good Laboratory Practices Principles (GLP). The Unit is certified by the INFARMED (Portuguese Pharmacy and Medicines Agency) as compliant with GLP. Direction of GLP Unit: Maria Teresa Crespo | Maria do Rosário Bronze | |
|
| Analytical Laboratory (LA)The laboratory has a long track record of providing services using chromatographic (HPLC and GC with several detectors) and electrophoretic methods for pharmaceutical, agro and chemical industry and academia. Also includes Protein Sequencing. | |
|
| Microbiology Laboratory (LM)The laboratory has provided services for the pharmaceutical industry, for pharmaceutical formulas and API, agro-industry and academia. Services include in vitro potency assays, protein quantification, molecular biology analysis (GMOs in food and feed and other) and detection and quantification of impurities or contaminants in pharmaceutical. | |
|
| Mass Spectrometry LaboratoryThe laboratory performs development and validation of analytical methods as well as routine analysis for a broad range of chemical compounds, from small organic and organometalic compounds to peptides, oligosaccharides, nucleotides and proteins. Small Molecule X-ray Crystallography | ||
![]() | This X-ray crystallography facility is an analytical service that involves a close collaboration between three different institutions: ITQB, IST and ITN. X-ray diffraction by a single crystal is used to determine the three dimensional structure of small molecules. The analysis can be complemented by advice on growing good diffracting crystals suitable for data collection, comprehensive analysis of the structural results and preparation of results and molecular illustrations, in colour or black & white, for publication. This facility is also available to researcher from outside ITQB.
