The PDG group uses various general methods of Genetics and Molecular and Cell Biology and methods that have been specifically developed for Antirrhinum.

• Transposon-mutagenesis.
• Recombination mapping.
• Construction of mutant combinations.
• Map-based cloning combined with transposon-mutagenesis (gene isolation based on mutant).
• Reverse genetics (isolation of transposon-induced mutants based on gene sequences)
  Arabidopsis transformation.
• Analysis of nucleic acids (Southern, Northern, PCR, sequencing, cloning, RNA/RNA in situ hybridization).
• Expression, purification and analysis of recombinant proteins.
• Microscopy (fluorescence, scanning).
