NOVA university featured in QS World University Rankings

Oeiras, 13.10.2014
As widely publicized by the national press, the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa was the only Portuguese University featured in the QS Top 50 Under 50, an international ranking of the top 50 young universities in the world, having been placed in the 36th position. This ranking highlights the world’s top 50 universities established within the last 50 years, based on several criteria to assess performance, including academic reputation, reputation among employers, and internationalization.

But Universidade NOVA is also featured in the QS Top University ranking by subject in one particular discipline – Chemistry (position 151-200). The rankings by subject highlight the 200 top universities in the world for 30 individual subjects, using data on reputation and research citations. The scientific contribution of Universidade NOVA in the area of Chemistry results from the effort of scientists at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia and ITQB.

When considering the overall QS World University Ranking 2014, Universidade NOVA appears in position 312, 41 places above the ranking in 2013.

The QS World University Rankings are annual university rankings published by British Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The publication is one of the three most influential and widely observed international university rankings, alongside the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
