X Server for Windows

MIX is a freeware X-server for windows. It runs the TWM windows manager. It's very basic but functional!

Download MIX here! You need to unzip the file to a temporary directory and run Setup.

When you run MIX a empty window appears and you need to login in Biomat using a telnet program (putty is used by all members of the group. Click here to download it (185 kB)!). In the telnet command window type "export DISPLAY=<current computer IP>:0". You can see what is your current machine's IP by:

In Windows: Start -> Run -> Type 'winipcfg' ->OK -> Drop-down menu:Choose your network adapter (EX: NE2000). -> It's next to IP Address

In Linux/Unix: type '/sbin/ifconfig', and locate the IP after 'inet addr:'.

Then, type in your telnet window 'xterm&' and voilá! A xterm window opens in the MIX window in your PC
