14:00–15:00 — Public seminar: “Advanced 120kV TEM for Life Sciences”, presented by Timothy Booth

Topics:

Talos 12 within biological electron microscopy and illustrate realistic applications and workflows:

  • Biological applications best suited to a 120 kV TEM.
  • Negative-stain screening and rapid sample-quality assessment.
  • Resin-section imaging and room-temperature tomography.
  • Suitable cryo-EM and cryo-tomography applications, including practical limitations.
  • Using the Talos for rapid feedback before transferring selected samples to higher-end microscopes.
  • Relevant automation and image-analysis capabilities, including Maps Discover Studio, subject to confirmation.
  • Representative scientific applications and benchmark results.

15:00–15:25 — User feedback and development discussion

15:25–15:35 — Transfer to the facility

15:35–16:30 — Registration-only visit to the CryoEM@Oeiras facility and ITQB-led demonstration. Places are limited.

Researchers and prospective users from ITQB NOVA, NOVA Medical School, NOVA FCT, and related institutions are welcome.
