Applications are invited for a Bachelor Holder Fellowship in the scope of the science communication project EU-EMBRACES – Ref. 101162414, in the scope of the European Researchers Night (NEI), funded by the European Commission (European Research Executive Agency).
Scientific Area: Science Communication
Academic degree: Bachelor in Natural or Social Sciences
Other requisites: - Motivation for science communication; - Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken); - Good organizational skills; - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; - Good interpersonal and communication skills; - Being enrolled in a master course or in a non-academic degree course, in accordance with Article 6th of “Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. from FCT”, law in force.
Will be valued: - Experience in science communication initiatives; - Experience in event planning; - Available for immediate start.

Work Plan: The EU-EMBRACES is developed by a consortium led by ITQB NOVA, a research and academic institution with extensive experience in outreach and event organization, in partnership with Ciência Viva, a national agency dedicated to Scientific Culture; and i3S, a research centre with a solid educational programme for schools and the public. The project brings together researchers and other stakeholders involved in the Horizon Europe Missions and the public, in more than 250 activities in 10 venues across the country, with the support of research institutions and local authorities. The selected candidate will be integrated in ITQB-NOVA’s Communication Office and will be involved in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the European Researchers Night main event (scheduled for 27 September) held in Oeiras, in collaboration with the Municipality and other scientific institutions in the region. Tasks within the workplan include collaboration in the design of the activities, contact with researchers and science communicators, collaboration in the dissemination of the event and involvement of the Oeiras community, actively participation in the event and pre-event activities, engagement with visitors and assessing the outcomes of the event. The selected candidate will be expected to write a report of the Oeiras NEI event.

Workplace: The work will be carried within the EU-EMBRACES project at the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, under the supervision of Professor Ana Sanchez.
Duration of the fellowship: The fellowship will have the duration of 3 months, eventually renewable, expected to start in August 2024, on a full-time basis, according to Fellowship Regulations of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P.
Stipend amount: 990,98 € according to the table of values of grants awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in the Country (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf) and payment will be made, monthly, through bank transfer.
Selection procedure: The evaluation procedures will be based on the analysis of the candidates´ CV and, if needed, an interview for the selected candidates may take place. In this case, the curriculum evaluation and the interview will have a weight of 80% and 20% each. Candidates are advised to use both CV and motivation letter to demonstrate

Application documents: The application should be formalized with (a) a cover letter indicating the corresponding fellowship reference, (b) the detailed Curriculum Vitae, (c) Motivation letter of 1 page maximum, (d) a degree certificate and (e) reference name and contact. All documents should be preferably sent by email as a single pdf file. If the degree certificate has been conferred by a non-Portuguese higher education institution, the selected candidate must obtain the certificate of the degree recognition, issued by the Portuguese Directorate General for Higher Education or by a Portuguese Public Higher Education Institution, until the signature of the contract. Notification of candidates: All the candidates will be informed of the final result by e-mail.
Deadlines and procedures for complaints and appeals: If the result is not favourable, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the disclosure of the results, to comment, if desired, in a prior hearing of interested parties, in the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.
