Our work is in the field of Industrial Biotechnology. Our objectives are 1) to discover new microbial enzymes, 2) to advance the understanding of their catalytic mechanisms, 3) to improve their properties through enzyme engineering techniques, and finally, 4) to implement bioprocesses for the valorization of bio-wastes and the production of compounds of interest for the food, polymer, and medical fields.
These involve disciplines such as Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Structural and Computational Biology, and Organic Chemistry. We have a network of national and international collaborators. We have several projects available that combine one to three of these disciplines, depending on the experience and interests of the candidates.
