The first edition of this Training Course to be held at ITQB-UNL is dedicated to researchers using or willing to use mass spectrometry methods for protein identification. Participants will have the opportunity to meet the ITQB/IBET-Analytical Services Unit facilities and profit from RNEM Institutions expertise.

Main objectives

  • to give practical insight into the most used MS strategies for protein identification
  • to provide hands-on experience on crucial areas, sample preparation and data evaluation
  • to present major methods advantages and limitations
  • to supply information on the preparation of protein identification data for publication
     

Training Course

duration: 2 days
dates: 27th-28th January 2010

Maximum number participants: 40, first 20 registration will allow participation in supervised training

Registration fee (includes course documentation, coffee breaks and lunches):
Normal: 50 euros
Students (undergraduate, master and PhD): 40 euros

  •  Fundamentals on Soft Ionization and MS Instrumentation
  •  LC-ESI-MS/MS and MALDI-TOF-TOF data acquisition, processing and database search
  •  Protein quantification by mass spectrometry approaches
  •  Characterization of post-translational modifications
  •  The high-resolution profits

Demonstration

  •  Protein Digestion
  •  LC-ESI-MS/MS and MALDI-TOF-TOF data acquisition

Supervised training

  •  Data processing and data base search
  •  De novo sequencing
