Overview

Pontin and Reptin are related members of the large AAA+ superfamily of conserved proteins. They are known to be involved in many cellular functions such as regulation of the assembly of multi-protein complexes, transcription, chromatin remodeling, and DNA damage response.  However, little is still known about the interconnections between these multiple functions, how the relevant signaling pathways are regulated, whether the interconnections are affected in human disease, and whether components of these pathways are suitable targets for therapeutic intervention.

Following up on the success of the first International Workshop on Pontin and Reptin that took place in Bordeaux, France in October 2012, it was decided to institute this meeting on a regular biannual basis.

You are cordially invited to attend the Second International Workshop on Pontin and Reptin, to be held at ITQB and IBET in Oeiras, Portugal on October 10-12, 2014. We hope that in addition to the excellence of the scientific presentations and discussions, the venue of the meeting located near the beach, the usually mild weather at that time of the year in Portugal, and lots of good food, beer and wine will contribute to the enjoyment of all participants.

The Local Organizing Committee,
Pedro Matias (Principal Researcher, ITQB, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Oeiras, Portugal)
Tiago Bandeiras (Auxiliary Researcher, IBET, Oeiras, Portugal)
Sara Silva (PhD student, ITQB, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Oeiras, Portugal)
