Presentation of ANICT

Some of the founding members of ANICT (Associação Nacional de Investigadores em Ciência e Tecnologia) will be at ITQB to present the Association and its objectives and to divulge the 1st National Meeting of Researchers to be held on May 8th in the Reitoria of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Are you asking yourself "Should I go to the April 22nd meeting?"

You should come if you have questions as:

· How will be my future as a researcher in Portugal?

· What will happen after the end of my contract as Investigador Auxiliar?

· Which are my rights as a researcher in Portugal?

... for sure there are much more questions, as much as there are researchers.

Although ANICT is primarily aimed at non-tenured contract researchers (Investigadores Auxiliares hired through programmes such as Laboratorio Associado and Ciência200x), all researchers (including Post-docs, Professors, and Investigadores Principais) are welcome at the meeting: the issues to be addressed concern the future of science in Portugal, which is in everyone’s interest, and all opinions matter.

Only through fruitful discussions between researchers, it will be possible to identify the most important issues to address. And only a large group of researchers, with official representative bodies, will be able to influence the decision-making process and the scientific policies, and gain visibility within the general public. From the program of the 1st National Meeting, and from the history of ANICT so far, it is clear that ANICT has been speaking to decision makers, FCT and Universities, so there is a great platform to discuss all questions.

ANICT needs as much support from researchers as possible.
