ITQB creates award for best PhD thesis
PhD thesis prize
Aiming to recognize the high quality of ITQB PhD theses, the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica will award an annual prize to the best PhD thesis resulting from research work mainly performed at the Institute.
All the theses discussed in 2009 will be considered for the first PhD thesis prize. The best ITQB thesis will be awarded a prize money of 2,500 Euros funded by Fundação Jacqueline Dias de Sousa.
The prize will be announced in the first trimester of 2010.

JACQUELINE DIAS DE SOUSA Foundation is a Portuguese private institution constituted to guaranty during indefinite time 3 principles which together seam quite unique, at least in the panorama of the Portuguese Foundations: SCIENCE - NATURE - ANIMALS; to keep alive a well known name in the Portuguese scientific community proceeding from a family that by its current dispersion among several countries, will soon loose descendents in Portugal; and to assure the continuance of a part of familiar patrimony proceeding from many years of intense work, for the help, with the means that this patrimony can generate, of the principles that the founder and its wife defend since a long time and that make up the purposes of the Foundation.
