Faculty & Research

The ITQB PhD Program in Chemical and Biological Sciences & Engineering is central to the mission of ITQB to provide advanced training in chemistry, biology and associated technologies. All units integrating the ITQB PhD Program are coordinated by researchers and professors at ITQB.

The PhD program is built on the long-standing experience of ITQB's faculty in biology and chemistry. Since the program's core is research-oriented, the scientific topics are inherently taught at the most advanced levels of scientific knowledge. ITQB's research laboratories provide a collaborative and multidisciplinary atmosphere for the student's scientific and human development.

On the other hand PhD students, as key group members, are an integral part of ITQB's research activity and contribute to the scientific excellence of the institute. Interactions between ITQB PhD students and between students and other researchers further enhances ITQB's supportive environment.

Besides ITQB's professors and researchers, the ITQB PhD Program further relies on the faculty of the Faculdade de Economia (UNL) and Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (UNL). Some modules have additional collaborations from renowned specialists outside UNL.
