Title: Vector and cell engineering approaches for improved production of lentiviral vectors for human gene therapy

Speaker: Ana Filipa Rodrigues

Abstract: Lentiviral vectors are currently the first choice for cell and gene therapy applications when long-term expression is required and have consolidated as the most used vector in the clinics in the past 5 years.

In this talk, I will give a brief historical perspective on the developments in the gene therapy field and its medical applications, explain how we transform pathogenic lentiviruses into safe delivery vehicles of therapeutic genes and how we produce them, and present some of the projects currently ongoing at the Cell Line Development and Molecular Biotechnology Lab on genetic engineering approaches to improve the production of these vectors.
