Title: How the bacterium Bacillus subtilis builds biofilms

Speaker: Nicola Stanley-Wall, University of Dundee

Abstract: Bacillus subtilis was one of the first organisms to be used for molecular-based studies of biofilm formation. The seminar will cover a few recent findings and will relate them to the social biology of the bacterium including how the biofilm forms in the first place, how the biofilm stops growing and how it can form its waterproof coating.
