"As a PhD student working in the bacterial cell surface and pathogenesis laboratory my current research interests are focused on discovering and understanding how bacteria escape to the host defence systems. More specifically, study the importance of the peptidoglycan secondary modifications in the structure of bacteria and also the impact of these in the recognition process by the Drosophila immune system . I am also interested in study proteins that alters the structural proteins the structure of the bacterial PG and also its catabolism (autolytic enzymes), these could influence the degradation of the PG and thus affect the release of the inflammatory components to the surrounding media."
