Research Projects

Our work lies on the interface between Biochemistry and Biophysics, with a special emphasis on Structural Biology techniques, namely X-ray Crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM).

We are interested in exploring alternative metabolic pathways in pathogenic bacteria, as promising drug targets for new antibiotics in Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Our research focus in two main areas: hydrogen sulfide (H2S), synthesis/breakdown and RNA processing by endoribonucleases.
