Inês Pires
Inês Pires is a PhD student at GPlantS under the supervision of Margarida Oliveira, Sónia Negrão and Michael Purugganan (NYU).
Inês Pires has a MSc in Biological Engineering by IST–UTL.
Inês started her research by analyzing the genetic diversity of key genes involved in rice salt-tolerance. Inês is currently at Purugganan Lab at Center for Genomics and Systems Biology – NYU, USA, where she is conducting part of her PhD. She is focused on the evolution of genes relevant for salt tolerance among the plant kingdom, and with a special emphasis on the Oryza genus.
