About Us

MOSTMICRO-ITQB is a Research Unit of ITQB NOVA, an Academic Institution of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, whose roots date back to 1986. The Unit brings together microbiologists, biochemists, structural biologists, computational biologists, cell biologists, geneticists, molecular epidemiologists, and chemists, creating an ideal environment for multidisciplinary work.

Established in 2015, MOSTMICRO-ITQB, aims to understand biological processes at the Molecular, Structural, Cellular and Population levels, with a focus on microbes important for human health, biotechnology and the environment.

MOSTMICRO-ITQB research focuses on:

• Molecular bases of processes that sustain microbial life
• Structural and organisational dynamics of microbial cells
• Dynamics of microbial populations
• Development of novel therapeutic strategies and to develop microbial factories for clean biotechnology
