This year, in an interactive online session, the Day will combine virtual visits to spaces never opened to the public (not even in the face-to-face Open Days!) with the latest news about the work developed by our researchers to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and to find solutions that improve the lives of people and the planet.

The public will have the chance to see live how the famous COVID-19 saliva tests are made, find out more about precise genome editing and RNA - the basis for the innovative technology of many of the COVID-19 vaccines, and discover how research in plants can make the planet more sustainable. The Digital Revolution in Science will be the focus of a round table discussion with the participation of the European Parliament Member Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, among other guests. The public will also have the opportunity to chat with researchers in the "speed dating with scientists", and clarify doubts about the ITQB NOVA Master's courses in individual sessions with current and former students.

Mini-scientists can participate in a special live episode of the web series Cientistas em Casa, in which researchers perform experiments using everyday materials, discover the strength of Oxygen in a session of Spectacular Science with researcher Carlos Romão, play science games and do several other activities.

Dedicated areas with on-demand content will allow you to discover exhibitions in a 3D environment, learn more about our laboratories, discover scientific equipment and get to know the activities of the School Science Clubs supported by ITQB NOVA, and much more. To close the day, several science quizzes will be available, with prizes for the public of all ages. All in a unique Day where you will discover the future that science is building.
