Title: Challenging catalysis with Earth-abundant metals

Speaker: Beatriz Royo

Affiliation: Homogeneous Catalysis Lab, ITQB

Abstract:

The majority of the work in catalysis has been performed using platinum-group metals. These elements — platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium are low abundant, expensive and toxic. Development of high performance catalyst based on cheap and abundant metals like iron and nickel will make chemical processes less expensive and environmentally friendly. In this seminar, an overview of our contribution to this field of catalysis will be presented.
