Title: The new era of computational methods in human and animal health

Speaker: Bruno Victor

Afilliation: Auxialiary Researcher at BioISI - Biosystems & Integrative Sciences Institute

Abstract: Computer-aided drug discovery/design methods have played a major role in the identification and development of therapeutically important molecules for over three decades. However, the rate of new drug developments has stagnated, in spite of large increases in both private and public sector spending on biomedical research. This indicates the urgent need for the development of cheaper and more accurate methods. In this seminar, Bruno L. Victor will present some of the most recent projects where his laboratory has been involved, focused on the development of new computational approaches to tackle human and animal health problems.
