Abstract: On part 1 of this talk an overview of Diamond Light Source, its capabilities and what it can offer the user community in particularly in the areas of structural biology will be presented. The basic operation of Diamond will be described as well as current developments on the 7 MX beamlines. On part 2 discussions on mechanisms of nuclear transport during viral Infection and the importance of IMP⍺ family of proteins in delivering cargo to the cell nucleus will be explored.
