Title: Meet COLife: Stronger Together

Speaker: Mariana Silva (COLife coordinator)

Abstract: During this seminar you will get an overview of COLife goals and 2021 achievements. You will hear about the 2022 COLife plans and the forthcoming COLife events. You will also get an overview of the scientific expertise, research facilities and services you can access at other COLife institutes. Throw-out the seminar, you will learn about all the existing COLife communication and sharing tools.

 

About Mariana Silva:

Mariana studied Biochemistry at the Universidade de Lisboa, and she then did a PhD in Cell Biology at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC). She was part of the Gulbenkian PhD program class of 2007 (The year INDP was launched) and did her thesis work at the laboratory of Dr. Lars Jansen. She studied how centromeres are epigenetically inherited across cell divisions. She then did a Postdoc at the laboratory of Jan-Michael Peters at the Research Institute for Molecular Pathology (IMP), part of Vienna Biocenter in Vienna, Austria. She studied the role of cohesion on chromatin organization and chromosome segregation during mouse female meiosis. Mariana moved back to Portugal in 2019 and she is currently the coordinator of COLife, an alliance between six Life Science research institutes in the Lisbon/Oeiras area.
