Title: Semi-artificial Carbon Dioxide Fixation Using Enzymes

Abstract: This presentation will discuss semi-artificial photosynthesis as an emerging strategy to develop powerful solar-to-chemical devices by interfacing biological catalysts with synthetic materials. This hybrid approach allows to overcome limitations in natural and artificial photosynthesis and opens up a new avenues in the development of next-generation catalytic systems. This lecture will focus on CO2-fixing formate dehydrogenase as a unique catalyst for reversible CO2 reduction and demonstrate its power as a model catalyst to inspire the assembly of several novel CO2 fixing technologies.
