Title: "Vascularized multi-organ systems – the next level of engineering human biology in vitro"

Speaker: Uwe Marx & Mark Rosowski

Affiliation: Technische Universität Berlin, Institute of Biotechnology - Department of Medical Biotechnology

Host: Manuel Carrondo

Abstract:

Skin equivalents, 3D cartilage constructs, artificial lymph nodes, liver support systems and various other human tissues have been engineered in the last decades to study human regeneration or even reconstitute tissues in man. Vascularization and connection of different human organ equivalents into living systems remain the largest challenges of recent tissue engineering efforts worldwide. The Institute of Technische Universität Berlin is developing both regenerative medicines in the area of hair transplantation as well as vascularized human multi-organ chips for predictive substance testing. Development strategies and current status of the research will be presented in the lecture.
