Research scientist position: call for applications
Under the Portuguese government initiative Ciência 2008, the Laboratório Associado (ITQB/IGC/IBET) wishes to appoint 14 highly motivated PhDs as research scientists at the Auxiliary Investigator level.
The Associated Laboratory at Oeiras focuses its research efforts on a number of themes relevant to the study of human disease, the improvement of the quality of life and the environment, and basic research in Life Sciences and related Chemistry and Technologies. The 5 major themes of research are mainly focused on: Biologically Active Molecules, Medicine and Molecular Veterinary Studies, Developmental Biology in Animals and Plants, Biological Risk and Improvement of Plants and Forests. This diversity of expertise contributes to the multidisciplinary atmosphere that makes this Associated Laboratory unique in Portugal.
The research areas listed for this call have been identified as strategically important in the development of activities of the Laboratório Associado but others areas in Chemistry, Life Sciences and associated technologies could be also considered for suitable qualified candidates.
The successful scientists are expected to undertake original research and will be encouraged to collaborate with the existing research initiatives within the Laboratório Associado.
The appointments are based on one-year contract, renewable up to 5 years, in accordance to the rules of the programme Ciência 2008. The salary will be in the range 3,100 Euros/month x 14 months/year.
