Maria Beatriz Vieira

M. Beatriz Vieira is a student from the Biotechnology for Sustainability master course

Maria Beatriz has a degree in Biology by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and engaged in a master course in Biotechnology for Sustainability in ITQB-NOVA.

Currently, Beatriz is doing her master thesis, focusing on seed vigor and establishment in different rice (Oryza sativa) varieties, particularly under hypoxia. She is analysing two transcription factors binding to OsHOS1 promoter, a gene involved in JA signalling pathway. Both TFs are part of the group VII in the ERF gene family, correlated to plant hypoxia tolerance.
