Oeiras, 11/03/08

The paper "Ionic Liquids: First Direct Determination of their Cohesive Energy", published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society by Luis Paulo Rebelo (head of the Molecular Thermodynamics Laboratory) and co-workers is being featured on the American Chemical Society Publications website  as the fifth most-cited publication in JACS through 2007. “Most-Cited Articles” listed at this website are based on data from Thomson Web of Science®. The featured work results from a collaborative research consortium by ITQB-UNL, Universidade do Porto and Universidade de Aveiro.

This same article was spotted (Nov-Dec 2007 period) by ESI Thomson WoS as a "Highly cited paper”*

Ionic Liquids: First Direct Determination of their Cohesive Energy (2007) Santos, L. M. N. B. F.; Canongia Lopes, J. N.; Coutinho, J. A. P.; Esperanca, J. M. S. S.; Gomes, L. R.; Marrucho, I. M.; Rebelo, L. P. N.; J. Am. Chem. Soc.; (Communication); 129(2); 284-285. DOI: 10.1021/ja067427b

Notes:

1. The Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) is the most cited journal in chemistry (impact factor of 7.696 in 2006) and has published more articles than any other journal in the category.

2. In Essential Science Indicators (ESI) from Thompson WoS, Highly cited papers are selected based on percentile rankings specific to fields of science and from the most recent 10 years of data. Since citation rates vary by field and older papers are cited more than recent papers, the selection procedure for highly cited papers takes these factors into account.
