ITQB NOVA at NOVA Science & Innovation Day 2025
With the motto ‘Excellence in Research: Transforming the Future’, the NOVA Science & Innovation Day will highlight the role of science and research in transforming society. The full programme is available here.
In the morning, ITQB NOVA researcher Raquel Portela will present the MPS NOVA Hub, in a research highlights session that gathers R&D projects led or co-led by researchers from the several NOVA Schools. The morning will also include a session on Open Science, as well as the presentation of the winning projects from the Ignition Grants for Interdisciplinary Research competition.
In the afternoon, Margarida Trindade, Head of Science Funding at ITQB NOVA, will moderate the roundtable ‘FP10 and the implications for the national landscape of the new framework programme’ – a session bringing together leading experts from the scientific and political spheres. The roundtable is followed by the announcement of the NOVA Research Impact Narratives & Awards.
At the Atrium, participants can find the Innovation Fair, bringing together proprietary technologies, specialized services and spin-offs, reflecting the diversity and impact of NOVA on the national scientific and economic fabric. From ITQB NOVA, will be present the projects
- COPE: Cutin Oligomeric Plant Immune Elicitors to Improve Plant Protection, by ITQB NOVA research fellow Catarina Araújo,
- SeaMic, by ITQB NOVA researchers Catarina Amaral e Carolina Mariano,
- Next-Generation of Natural Sweetners, by ITQB NOVA PIs Lígia Martins and Rita Ventura, and ITQB NOVA researcher André Taborda,
- NOVADopaStream: Accelerating Precise Dopamine Fermentation, by ITQB NOVA researchers Maria Inês Pimenta and Ana Patrícia Silva.
Also, throughout the day, doctoral students from the several NOVA Schools will present their research in pitch format – among which is Diogo Lucas, ITQB NOVA PhD student. The awards for the best pitches will be announced by the end of the NOVA Science and Innovation Day.
