João Crespo elected Dean of ITQB NOVA

João Crespo was today elected Dean of ITQB NOVA for the term of 2023-2027. The election took place in the Institute Council, following a public presentation to the ITQB NOVA community and a private session with the Council.

João Crespo is Full Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at FCT NOVA. He was Vice-President of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (2002 – 2005), Academic Dean (Presidente do Conselho Científico) of FCT NOVA (2006-2009), and Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of the NOVA University Lisbon (2010-2017). He has also coordinated the MIT Portugal PhD Programme in Bioengineering, been the institutional leader at FCT NOVA of 21 research projects funded by the European Commission, and has extensive scientific and academic experience, namely as member of Scientific Committees, as Keynote/Plenary Speaker at major conferences in his field or as an evaluator of projects and institutions. He is also a founder of the startup Zeyton Nutraceuticals.

The new Dean will take office once the Rector of NOVA University Lisbon ratifies the election.
