Noite Europeia dos Investigadores enche Marina de Oeiras de ciência

Entre as 16h e as 22h, os visitantes puderam descobrir atividades muito diversas, para todas as idades, e todas de participação gratuita. Entre as atividades, destacaram-se os stands de demonstrações científicas, onde os visitantes puderam conhecer de perto o melhor da investigação realizada em Portugal.
Na banca do ITQB NOVA, nove laboratórios deram a conhecer a sua investigação e como esta é transversal. Mesmo ao lado, os visitantes encontraram ainda o EU Corner, que incluiu projetos europeus de diversas unidades da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, incluindo do ITQB NOVA.
Lateralmente, dispunha-se a banca do Programa Ciência + Cidadã, com demonstrações de sete projetos de ciência cidadã, em colaboração com o Município de Oeiras e, finalmente, a banca da Unidade de Inovação do ITQB NOVA, que destacou um novo projeto, o DxHub, que procura promover soluções inovadoras na deteção de doenças infeciosas.
Para além dos stands, houve outras atividades, como uma escape room para se preparar para uma futura pandemia e uma exposição sobre envelhecimento e longevidade do GIMM. Também foi possível fazer um speed dating com cientistas e participar numa sessão Pint of Science, em que a investigadora Nina Vieira apresentou o seu trabalho na Catalazete Cervejaria e Bar.
No palco, houve também um espetáculo de magia, desafios científicos e apresentações musicais do grupo Batucadeiras “Voz de Cultura” do Bairro dos Navegadores e da banda do ITQB NOVA, ITQBand.
O objetivo da edição deste ano foi promover vozes e perspetivas menos representadas no campo científico. O evento também destacou a importância da sociedade e das escolas na promoção da ciência, enfatizando o papel fundamental da ciência na vida quotidiana e da educação científica para o futuro da investigação e da inovação.
A Noite Europeia dos Investigadores em Oeiras é organizada no âmbito do projeto europeu EU-EMBRACES, liderado pelo ITQB NOVA em conjunto com a Ciência Viva e o i3S.

European Researchers' Night fills Marina de Oeiras with science
Around 2,000 people visited European Researchers' Night at Oeiras Marina on 26 September. The event, organised by ITQB NOVA in partnership with the Municipality of Oeiras, brought together more than 35 scientific institutions, including 9 science clubs.
Between 4 pm and 10 pm, visitors were able to discover a wide range of activities for all ages, all free of charge. Among the activities, the scientific demonstration stands stood out, where visitors were able to get a close look at the best of the research carried out in Portugal.
At the ITQB NOVA stand, nine laboratories presented their research and how it cuts across different fields. Right next door, visitors also found the EU Corner, which included European projects from various units of NOVA University Lisbon, including ITQB NOVA.
On the side, there was the Science + Citizen Programme stand, with demonstrations of seven citizen science projects, in collaboration with the Municipality of Oeiras, and finally, the ITQB NOVA Innovation Unit stand, which highlighted a new project, DxHub, which seeks to promote innovative solutions in the detection of infectious diseases.
In addition to the stands, there were other activities, such as an escape room to prepare for a future pandemic and an exhibition on ageing and longevity by the GIMM Institute. It was also possible to do speed dating with scientists and participate in a Pint of Science session, in which researcher Nina Vieira presented her work at Catalazete Cervejaria e Bar.
On stage, there was also a magic show, scientific challenges, and musical performances by the Batucadeiras ‘Voz de Cultura’ group from Bairro dos Navegadores and the ITQB NOVA band, ITQBand.
The aim of this year's edition was to promote voices and perspectives that are underrepresented in the scientific field. The event also highlighted the importance of society and schools in promoting science, emphasising the fundamental role of science in everyday life and scientific education for the future of research and innovation.
The European Researchers' Night in Oeiras is organised as part of the European EU-EMBRACES project, led by ITQB NOVA in conjunction with Ciência Viva and i3S.
