Paula Alves Honored as “Person of Merit” by APIFARMA

Paula Alves, Principal Investigator at ITQB NOVA and CEO of iBET, has been recognized as a “Person of Merit” by APIFARMA - Portuguese Pharmaceutical Industry Association. The prize highlights her significant contributions to advancing precision therapies through research in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry and clinicians.
The recognition took place on November 20th at a celebratory dinner marking APIFARMA’s 85th anniversary, held at Convento do Beato in Lisbon. During the ceremony, the Secretary of State for Health, Ana Povo, alongside João de Lara Everard, chairman of the General Assembly, presented the “Personality of Merit” awards, honoring individuals who have played a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of the association. Paula Alves was one of three distinguished recipients, joined by Fernando Almeida, President of INSA, and Graça Freitas, former Director-General of Health.
This prize underscores Paula Alves’ leadership and innovative work in developing precision therapies, strengthening the bridge between scientific research and real-world medical applications.
