EDP fund for biodiversity

A project for biodiversity preservation involving two ITQB/IBET laboratories is among the three projects selected for funding through the Biodiversity Fund from EDP. The public presentation ceremony of this distinction takes place today, 4th December, at the Museu de Electricidade.

The project is entitled “Conservation and valorization of Portugal’s threatened and endemic flora” and also involves Centro de Estudos Farmacêuticos and Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia from Universidade de Coimbra, and Museu Nacional de Historia Natural - Jardim Botânico from Universidade de Lisboa. The overall funding for the whole project is 150 M€.

At ITQB/IBET, the project is coordinated by Cláudia Santos, post-doc at the Disease and Stress Biology Laboratory, also includes the Forest Biotech Laboratory, and has the additional collaboration of Centro de Investigação de Montanha da Escola Superior Agrária de Bragança.
