Hélia has a solid scientific background, holding a B.Sc. in Biology, an M.Sc. in Biodiversity and Plant Biotechnology, both from the University of Coimbra, and a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences from the Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology António Xavier – NOVA University. Her career has consistently developed around science, technology, and innovation.
She began as a plant researcher and gradually transitioned into roles focused on project coordination and management across various fields, including biology, plant biotechnology, bioeconomy, and circular economy. She also has experience in organizing and planning both small- and large-scale meetings and events with project consortiums, as well as engaging with international and national stakeholders. Additionally, her expertise extends to the conceptualization and development of project applications for competitive funding, particularly targeting Portugal2020/Portugal2030, FCT, RRP, and the Horizon Europe program
