The COMENZE Doctoral Network has officially kicked off
Oeiras, 15th October 2025
The COMENZE – Computational and Experimental Enzyme Engineering for New Polymers project officially kicked off with a two-day meeting at ITQB NOVA on October 2nd and 3rd.
The meeting marked the beginning of a journey to advance enzyme engineering for sustainable polymer design and recycling by training doctoral candidates for this new paradigm. The 10 newly selected Doctoral Candidates, their supervisors, and members of the coordination team came together for the official launch of this Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network, setting the stage for collaboration, shared learning, and scientific exchange.
“I’m amazed by the potential, dedication, and diversity of our new doctoral candidates,” said Lígia O. Martins, the project coordinator. “It’s not something we could take for granted - and it gives me great confidence in the future of COMENZE.”
Over the course of the two days, the participants got to learn about COMENZE’s structure, training plans, communication strategy, and the scientific focus of all ten individual research projects. The sessions also included guidance on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and its opportunities.
