Molecular Basis of Health and Disease
Molecular basis of health and disease is directed to the well-being of humans and other animals. ITQB aims to understand the biological questions at the (bio)molecular and cellular scale exploiting complementary expertise available within the Institute. Epidemiology, molecular basis of infection, and antimicrobials and resistance are areas where research is being pursued towards this goal. Our deep molecular expertise will allow us to unveil the mechanisms of disease and of drug action, while opening the way for the design of new drugs, including biopharmaceuticals and ATMPs. Additionally, ITQB addresses, at several levels of depth (from the atomic level, to organism biology), the molecular mechanisms that sustain life.
