Using wildlife organoids to study viral tropism and cross-species adaptation
Karl Kochanowski, IRTA-CReSA Centre de Recerca en Sanitat Animal
This talk will focus how they are developing a biobank of animal-derived organoids to identify animal species susceptible to existing and emerging viruses, with the aim of predicting and containing disease outbreaks.
Modelling early atherogenesis using blood vessel organoids
André R. A. Marques, NOVA Medical School – Faculdade de Ciências Médicas
This talk will focus on how they are developing human blood vessel organoids (hBVOs) as a physiologically relevant model of atherosclerosis, with preliminary results showing that the organoids can recapitulate early disease phenotypes and provide a platform to study lipid-mediated endothelial dysfunction and senescence.
