Tony Collins

Tony Collins is an FCT Researcher at the Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA) at the Department of Biology, University of Minho. He works in the area of protein science, in white, or industrial, biotechnology and in the study and development of proteins for application in this. In particular he has focused on extremophilic enzymes, namely low temperature adapted enzymes, and on protein based polymers. Both fundamental and applied aspects are covered, from protein identification, to production, purification, engineering and application. He has participated in numerous international and national projects and is the author of 2 patents and almost 50 papers with over 4000 citations and a worldwide commercialised product.
