GREEN-IT Annual Meeting 2022

The Meeting brought together GREEN-IT members and the Scientific Advisory Board for two days of discussions and networking.

The 7th Annual Meeting of the Bioresources for Sustainability Unit GREEN-IT took place on October 10 and 11 2022, at ITQB NOVA, Oeiras.

On the first day of the meeting, over 70 members of GREEN-IT Research Unit gathered with Prof. Sophien Kamoun and Prof. Paul Christou of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), to hear about the ongoing affairs and the plans for the future of the Research Unit. The main goals and achievements for the Research and Infrastructural groups planned for the future GREEN-IT structure were presented and discussed with the audience. Both the SAB and the GREEN-IT members visited the newly installed in-door phenotyping infrastructure that is now part of the GREEN-IT Phenotyping Platform. On the second part of the meeting, joined by Prof. Dorothea Bartels (also SAB member) by zoom, all could attend presentations by two of the new members of GREEN-IT: Octávio Serra (INIAV), on the activities of the National Germplasm Bank, and Pedro Reis (INIAV), on Rural Sociology. The first day ended with a general discussion involving all attendees and dinner, which provided a moment for networking and relaxation.

On the second and last day, the SAB and several GREEN-IT members visited the InnovPlantProtect CoLAB, in Elvas, where they attended presentations by the CEO (Pedro Fevereiro) and Department Directors (Cristina Azevedo, Sandra Correia, Ricardo Ramiro, Ilaria Marengo, and David Learmonth) on the governance and activities of the CoLAB. These were followed by a visit to the CoLAB newly renovated laboratories and infrastructures.

The SAB members were very pleased with the meetings and visits.
