Green-it at Encontro de Ciência 2025
Over the three-day event, organized by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), Green-it made its mark by coordinating a parallel session focused on crop protection for healthy food and environmental sustainability. The session brought together a multidisciplinary panel of experts, including Susana Araújo (CoLAB MORE), Tiago Lourenço (ITQB NOVA), José Silvestre and André Duque (SFCOLAB), Isabel Abreu (ITQB NOVA), and Ricardo Ramiro and Cristina Azevedo (CoLAB InnovPlantProtect). Discussions covered emerging technologies to address climatic challenges, protect crops, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The session was moderated by António Saraiva, Executive Director of InnovPlantProtect, and Albino Bento, Executive Director of MORE.
In a separate session, Green-it Director Margarida Oliveira participated in the panel “Tecnologias Emergentes: Prioridades Estratégicas para Portugal – Biotecnologia”, by invitation of Centro de Planeamento e de Avaliação de Políticas Públicas (PLANAPP). The panel also featured Carlos Faro (University of Coimbra) and was moderated by Gabriel Barros (PLANAPP), addressing key challenges and opportunities for biotechnology within national science policy.
In addition to its institutional presence, Green-it was represented by 12 PhD students, who presented their posters showcasing their latest research.
Encontro de Ciência is Portugal’s largest annual science event, convening researchers, institutions, and policy makers to exchange knowledge, inspire innovations, and shape the future of science and technology.
