New strategic protocols to bring together academia and agriculture

During the InovMilho field day, two protocols were signed to boost synergies among academia, entrepreneurs, and national farmers.

The Field Day organized by Associação Nacional dos Produtores de Milho e Sorgo (Anpromis) took place 13 September, in Coruche. Under the scope of InovMilho – Centro Nacional de Competências das Culturas do Milho e Sorgo, this day dedicated to corn cultivation sought to bring together farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs, technicians, and researchers.

During the event, two strategic protocols were signed in the area of teaching and research. The curricular internship protocol aims to contribute to a greater involvement between academia and businesses, by promoting curricular internships and research/training work to take place at the Coruche Innovation Hub. Signing this protocol were Anpromis, Coruche Municipality, GREEN-IT member INIAV and several higher education institutions, including GREEN-IT member ITQB NOVA. Furthermore, the strategic partnership in the cereals area was also officialized with the signing of the protocol by NOVA University of Lisbon, Anpromis, Associação Nacional de Produtores de Proteaginosas, Oleaginosas e Cereais (ANPOC), and Associação de Orizicultores de Portugal (AOP). This protocol looks to stimulate research in the field of cereals and collaboration between researchers and farmers.

In attendance were the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Maria do Céu Antunes, the President of the Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries, Pedro do Carmo, the President of Confederação dos Agricultores de Portugal (CAP), Eduardo Oliveira e Sousa, and the President of the Municipality of Coruche, Francisco Silvestre Oliveira.
