IMpaCT supports the new H2020 Twinning Project PhasAGE

IMpaCT fully supports the new EU-H2020 Twinning project PhasAGE - Excellence Hub on Phase Transitions in Aging and Age-Related Disorders (IBMC/i3S).

These two projects will mutually benefit both research institutions and increase the impact and visibility of Portuguese scientists in the broad field of Structural Biology and Biophysics, especially in the field of CryoEM.

As such, the IMpaCT project would like to advertise the PhasAGE Kick-Off Meeting – Public session.

Date: 5th February 2021

Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) has recently emerged as a fundamental strategy for intracellular organization with relevance for the regulation of multiple biological processes, including DNA replication and repair, transcription, signaling and synapse formation. Importantly, aberrant phase transitions have been consistently associated with diseases such as cancer and neurodegeneration.

The Twinning project "PhasAGE: Excellence Hub on Phase Transitions in Aging and Age-Related Disorders" aims at strengthening the excellence, knowledge and innovation potential of i3S in the emerging field of biomolecular phase transitions. The consortium, headed by i3S, includes recognized experts on biological phase separation from Belgium (Peter Tompa and Ludo van Den Bosch, VIB), Spain (Salvador Ventura, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and Italy (Silvio Tosatto, Università di Padova).
