After assessing the recent developments and to ensure compliance with the Health Safety directives issued by the Finnish Authorities, the IMpaCT Consortium has decided to cancel the face-to-face participation at the Single Particle Workshop for those students that are not already in Helsinki, in order to guarantee the participants and tutors safety.
Despite the current limitations, IMpaCT is committed to promote Cryo-EM training in Single Particle analysis to our students and researchers. Therefore, the Consortium has decided to convert the Workshop primarily into an interactive Online discussion group session, which will be held in the same week, November 2-5th 2020.
We hope for your understanding, as the IMpaCT Consortium is making all efforts to circumvent the limitations caused by the new circumstances.

The goal of this workshop is to introduce the subject of Cryo-EM Single Particle. This workshop will have both lectures and practical sessions. In the lectures, there will be a discussion of theoretical principles, applications, problem solving, and presentation by students. In the practical sessions, the participants will have the opportunity to prepare and optimise samples and to collect data from different samples using automated data collection with the FEI Talos Arctica or Jeol 3000 on a direct electron detector and with the FEI F20 on a CCD camera. They will have the opportunity to test the use of a phase plate in data collection and investigate the effect on image quality for processing. Students will present their research project and focus on how they will apply the knowledge gained in the workshop to that project.
